The anti-Radiohead movement grows

I hate Radiohead. There. I said it.

I like the idea they want to try a new distribution method for their music but that doesn’t make me want to listen to it either.

Same here. I admire the download and pay what you want idea. I hope this idea or something like it is adopted industry wide as a realistic way to move into the future of music distribution but Radiohead is too gloomy / melancholy for my taste. I’ve never liked them and, unlike many bands that end up growing on me over time, I don’t think I ever will.

I certainly don’t “hate” them (the people), but I immediately turn off their music whenever possible because I really don’t like the vibe. Sometimes I walk away (but never run) from people who listen to them as well! ;-)

During my late teens and early twenties, I went through a phase where I deliberately listened to strange music just because I was developing an appreciation for the experimental and unusual.  At the time I loved Radiohead, most obviously because they’re just weirdos.  Since then, however, I’ve learned who I am and what music I like and what music I don’t.  I’ve tightened the list of things I’ll listen to… I now require music to have some vague semblance of structure and a decent melody wouldn’t hurt, either.

I agree.  I love that Radiohead is trying to beat the system with their “pay what you like” downloads, but I don’t care to listen to them.

Does anyone else think it’s funny that they’re literally giving away music for free and people still bitch?  You need to re-tune your instruments if you’re playing for free and you still suck enough that people don’t like you.
