Media should be an evolving organism
New media is better than old media in that it’s always changing. Even viewed within the context of a simple Tumblr Dashboard, you can see people grow and change, news as it happens, trends in every aspect of society bloom and then die and ideas themselves being birthed, growing, mutating, combusting, surviving or any weird combination of the above.
Old media would lock facts that were approved by some sort of hegemonical parent society away and refuse the obvious truth that reality itself changes as our perception of it changes and that “facts” must evolve as we evolve. Pedantry is like some sort of absurd denial of humanity at its very essence.
Putting every aspect of media, from content to style to presentation to message into the hands of a perpetually turbulent and unstable democracy may seem like an unwieldy nightmare but it’s really just allowing media to better represent and reflect humanity, as fucked up and shaky as we are.
