reckon:sniffed: The Fundamentals of Creative Design · By G. Ambrose and P. Harris
This is true of design but also art and life in general.
It’s also true of web apps.  I love Tumblr for the community but also for the app itself, with its clean interface, simple functionality and uncomplicated aesthetic.  By the time I left WordPress, I had already grown frustrated with its eyesore of a Dashboard, full of shit I wasn’t using and generally complicating my experience.  One of the (many) reasons I never got into MySpace was that every time I saw anyone’s MySpace page, it was fucking atrocious so if anyone ever tells you design doesn’t matter, they’re wrong.
So, yes, simpler is better.  In all things, simpler is better.
